Last night I went “trick or treating” in a frog costume on the streets of Beacon Hill in Boston with a friend from work and his fantastic family. John Kerry, the United States Senator and former Democratic Party presidential candidate in the 2004 election, was in front of his house encouraging people to vote in tomorrow’s midterm elections. When I saw him, he was surrounded by a big crowd and his personal security team. At first, I was a bit intimidated to approach him, but since I was already interviewing people with my flip camera on the street for my Halloween post, I decided to activate the Tourist Attitude state of mind and get him on video. When I got near him, his bodyguards asked me what kind of question I wanted to ask. They were very cautious about having Mr. Kerry answering questions on video from a random guy. In the end, I was finally able to approach him for a bit and get his response for TA’s website.

TOURIST TIP: You can talk and interview whomever you want. It does not matter if it’s a random guy like me or a former U.S. presidential candidate like John Kerry. You just need to have the right attitude and a good story to do it. Think as if you were a famous journalist and go for it. It’s a fun experience! And if you are a U.S. citizen, please vote tomorrow. Even if you’re disgusted, vote. Vote for your least unfavorite choice. But go vote.
